Acoustic Design Reviews
Our design reviews ensure legal compliance and good acoustic performance. This is useful for clients involved in industrial, commercial, or domestic properties.
The review service focuses on the noise reduction of walls or floors, to help with sound insulation testing. It is also used to optimise the layout of sites to aid noise control.
We conduct reviews and surveys to BS 8233. To help ensure that properties meet acoustic performance targets.
Acoustic performance review at the design stage of a project is much more cost-effective compared to post completion. This is due to the extra cost of fitting of corrective measures and the removal of existing structures. In addition, we also design recording studios and venues for live sound.
NCSL also offer enclosure design services. This allows accurate specification of enclosures for noisy machines.
We specialise in acoustic reviews for:
- Approved Document E (Part E – Resistance to the passage of sound).
- Sound Insulation Testing.
- BS 4142 Noise Impact Assessment.
- Robust Details.
- Building Bulleting 93 (BB93 – Acoustic Design of Schools).
- BS 8233 (Sound insulation and noise reduction for buildings – Code of Practice).
- Bespoke Projects.
Echo and Reverberation Control
Echoes and can pose big challenges for understanding speech within rooms. Lots of echoes in the same space causes reverb (the effect you hear in a large hall or church). This causes issues for speech, communications, PA systems and hi-fi audio.
Acoustic spaces for education, sport and music events tend to suffer most. This is due to their large size & hard walls surfaces. Similarly, this is also true of open plan offices and call centres, which also suffer from poor acoustics, leading to communication issues.
NCSL provide acoustic consultancy services to assess and optimise echo in existing spaces. We also provide specifications to ensure correct designed of proposed spaces.
At NCSL, we have over a 15 years of experience in reverberation testing and control over a wide range of applications and venues.
